Anzac Pride and infectious positive energy

image

I just attended the Anzac day march in Melbourne for the first time and was struck by the pride and warmth of the men and women participating and those watching.

It served to remind me of the infectious energy of positive crowds on those around them.

One person’s positive energy is infectious, but a crowds energy will sweep you up.

Stay positive, your energy is amazing.

Mindset

You can develop your mindset by focusing on effort, creating challenges and by applying a sequence of four simple effective steps.

Step1. Learn to hear your fixed mindset “voice.”

Step 2. Recognize that you have a choice.

Step 3. Talk back to it with a growth mindset voice.

Step 4. Take the growth mindset action.

At the best of times I struggle to focused on any single task. Take right now for instance. I’m supposed to be listening to a presentation but instead I noticed an unpublished blog post so now my mind wondered to completing this post on the topic of mindset.

SO BANG! Here I am thinking about Mindset – the new psychology of success – the notion of a fixed versus a growth mindset and how to get into one.

In a fixed mindset, people believe their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits. They spend their time documenting their intelligence or talent instead of developing them. They also believe that talent alone creates success—without effort. They’re wrong.

In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities.

My focus now and into the future is how to apply the growth mindset into everything I do..

not a model

Not the model, models are great to look at in ad’s plastered across the web. You know the ones, the no smile, awkward pose, such as the below ad for Tree-house.

It was quite obvious the model / owner is not a happy subject in front of a camera but I’ve clicked and checked out their services.  So discount Photo-shoot or not, the banner worked, but the destination content was a bit disappointing.

I don’t want to know how much it costs from the get go..An issue with many sites… “Thanks for coming it costs..X per month for our services”.

Tell me how great Tree-house is at teaching me to build apps, how quickly I can make millions and how successful they’ve been with other code deficient punters just like me. Perhaps they need to consider moving the pricing to a separate page and bring the benefits forward, while making them a little more relevant. It’s what I see after I click that’s crucial to sell is to tell in my language. How many languages can you speak?

I’m really happy to be here holding my iphones

Logic+Emotion: Visual Thinking + Synthesis

Logic+Emotion: Visual Thinking + Synthesis.

I have feebly attempted to be a visual thinker for quite sometime but am challenged by my lack of skill in the photoshop space.

In this case I’m not a designer, I’m not a great drawer and I struggle to simplify my often complicated thoughts to extract the keen curated concepts we eagerly pursue across the internet. But I’m getting better..

David Armano and David gray work in this space relentlessly and have hashed out quite the collection of visual thoughts, shared in the above slideshare.

I’m sure they’ve improved with time, and I guarantee I’ll be feverishly working to refine my visual thinking capability and pump out some classic visual thinking concepts.
